Return of the Swifties!

On October 18, over 100 young dancers clad in pink, led by the Duchesne Diamondline Dance Team, took to the field at Frank Barro Stadium to show off their moves and true Swiftie spirit.

This is the second year that the “Friday Night Lights (Taylor’s Version)” halftime show entertained those in attendance at Duchesne and gave girls from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade the chance to perform with the high school dance team. Diamondline Coach Anita Borgmeyer ’97 and dance-mom Dana Buckner worked hard to plan the event.

“There are so many great things about this event,” said Coach Borgmeyer. “Sharing our love of dance and school spirit is really important! Seeing the kids have so much fun with our team and performing for their family and friends is great!”

Participating dancers learned the routine that night with Diamondline members guiding them through each step—no small feat considering the large number of children and the tight time limit.

“I couldn’t do it without the other girls on the team!” said senior Diamondline Captain Maggie Schneider. “The girls listened so well and did a great job picking up the choreography!”

“We had all the girls spread out through the PAC,” said Maeve McCune, a freshman member of Diamondline. “They were quick learners and did a fabulous job on the field! The Diamondline definitely has a bright future!”

Although many of the young performers also attended dance camp this summer, plenty of new faces were on campus that night. Borgmeyer encourages all girls interested to join in the fun.

“If parents and their kids want to get involved in the future, the best way is to follow Duchesne on social media and sign up for our newsletter so they see the signup information for future Diamondline events,” she said.

With another successful event in the books, Coach Borgmeyer thinks this may become a yearly tradition at Duchesne.

“It brings kids out to Duchesne and gives them a fun opportunity to engage with our Diamondline Dance Team and cheer on our sports teams! In addition, we love to show younger kids and families how great our Duchesne community is!”
