The Evan Kielty Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship represents heart, grit, and living life outside of the box. A $2,500 one-time award will be granted annually to a Duchesne High School student who represents the characteristics for which our beloved Evan Michael Kielty (DHS, 2014) is fondly remembered. After a battle with mental health issues, Evan abruptly ended his life. This scholarship will be granted to a student who best describes how their life has mirrored the characteristics for which we remember Evan Kielty. Evan was a pure soul who was an idealistic dreamer. He believed anything was possible and embraced all walks of life when he endeavored anything. Evan was creative in his thought processes and viewed the world and anyone he encountered as his "ohana" (family). In fact, his life's mantra was "everybody love everybody." Everyone he met was his family and you felt the purity of his love instantly. He was the most genuine, loyal person, and we are grateful to have been embraced by his love.
Incoming freshmen, as well as sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible, but a student may not receive this scholarship more than once during their four years at DHS.
In addition to completing Duchesne’s standard scholarship application, students applying for The Evan Kielty Memorial Scholarship must submit a short three to five minute video including examples of how/when the student emulates/has emulated the characteristics for which Evan is remembered. Please include your plans for your time at Duchesne, activities you are/plan to be involved in, and what type of opportunity Duchesne High School will provide/has provided you.
Submissions will be accepted through (2025 deadline to come).
